Anti-corrosion solution for the protection of metal assets of industrial enterprises has been successfully tested at SEIC (Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd.).
INTRA Services Company reported on the successful tests of the OxiFree anti-corrosion thermoplastic coating. The tests started in mid-2015 at a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant which belongs to Sakhalin Energy. OxiFree protection coating solution has been applied to several flange joints after their preconditioning. Sakhalin Energy Production complex is located on the southern shore of Sakhalin Island, alongside Aniva Bay. Thus, the environment for the tests was perfect. Usually, high humidity and a high sea salt concentration in the air are the strongest catalysts for corrosion. Moreover, a temperature drop from +30 to -30 degrees Celsius during the tests has been recorded.
OxiFree protection coating on one of the flanges was removed after 10 months. Visual inspection confirmed that there were no visible signs of corrosion. Other flanges were inspected a year after the tests to assess their condition. It was also confirmed that the tests were completed successfully.
As a result of the tests, OxiFree anti-corrosion thermoplastic coating has been deemed effective for use at both onshore and offshore platforms. It can be recommended for use at Shell objects.
